Joseph’s Brothers Bow Before Him in Egypt

Description
Joseph, clothed as an Egyptian governor, stands in authority before his brothers as they bow low at his feet. Camels, attendants, vessels, and the distant pyramid place the meeting in Egypt during the famine, when Jacob’s sons came seeking grain and unknowingly fulfilled the dreams Joseph had received in his youth. The composition centers on the tension between hidden identity, divine providence, and family restoration: the rejected brother now holds power to judge, yet the larger biblical story moves toward mercy and preservation. This artwork is well suited for teaching Genesis, sermons on forgiveness, providence, reconciliation, and God’s sovereign guidance through suffering.
