1 But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.3 You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil.4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian.5 For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire.6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.8 The Lord has sent a word against Jacob, and it will fall on Israel;9 and all the people will know, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart:10 “The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”11 But the LORD raises the adversaries of Rezin against him, and stirs up his enemies.12 The Syrians on the east and the Philistines on the west devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.13 The people did not turn to him who struck them, nor inquire of the LORD of hosts.14 So the LORD cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed in one day—15 the elder and honored man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail;16 for those who guide this people have been leading them astray, and those who are guided by them are swallowed up.17 Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over their young men, and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.18 For wickedness burns like a fire; it consumes briers and thorns; it kindles the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts the land is scorched, and the people are like fuel for the fire; no one spares another.20 They slice meat on the right, but are still hungry, and they devour on the left, but are not satisfied; each devours the flesh of his own arm,21 Manasseh devours Ephraim, and Ephraim devours Manasseh; together they are against Judah. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.

1 Başlangıçta Kelâm vardı. Kelâm Allah’la birlikteydi Ve Kelâm Allah’ın kendisiydi.2 Kelâm ezelden beri Allah’la birlikteydi.3 Allah her şeyi Kelâm’ı vasıtasıyla yarattı. Allah’ın Kelâmı vasıtasıyla yaratılmamış Hiçbir şey yoktur.4 Kelâm hayatın kaynağıdır, Bu hayat bütün insanlara nur oldu.5 Nur karanlığı aydınlattı. Karanlık nuru söndüremedi.6 Allah, Yahya adında birini gönderdi.7 Yahya nur Olan’a şahitlik etmek için geldi. Allah onu nura şahitlik etsin ve bütün insanlar bu nur vasıtasıyla imana kavuşsun diye gönderdi.8 Yahya nurun kendisi değildi. Vazifesi nura şahitlik etmekti.9 Dünyaya gelip her insanı aydınlatan hakiki nur buydu.10 O dünyadaydı. Dünya O’nun vasıtasıyla yaratıldı, fakat dünya O’nu tanımadı.11 Kendi ülkesine geldi, fakat kendi halkı O’nu kabul etmedi.12 Kendisini kabul eden herkese Allah’ın evlâdı olma hakkını verdi. Lütfunu ve kendisiyle ilgili hakikati ise İsa Mesih vasıtasıyla gösterdi.18 Allah’ı hiç kimse görmemiştir. Fakat semavî Baba Allah’ın bağrından gelen ve özde Allah olan biricik semavî Oğul, Allah’ı bize tanıttı.19 Kudüs’te bulunan Yahudi yetkililer Yahya’ya bazı rahipler ve Levililer gönderdi. Bunlar Yahya’ya, “Sen kimsin?” diye sordular.20 Yahya onlarla hiç çekinmeden konuştu, “Ben Mesih değilim” diye açıkça bildirdi.21 O zaman Yahya’ya, “Öyleyse sen kimsin? İlyas mısın?” diye sordular. Yahya, “Hayır, İlyas değilim” dedi. Bu kez, “Sen beklediğimiz peygamber misin?” diye sordular. Yahya, “Hayır, değilim” dedi.22 Bunun üzerine ona, “Sen kimsin? Ben O’nun çarıklarının bağcıklarını çözmeye bile lâyık değilim.”28 Bu olaylar, Şeria Irmağı’nın karşı yakasındaki Beytanya şehrinde geçti. Yahya insanları burada vaftiz ediyordu.29 Yahya ertesi gün İsa’nın kendisine doğru geldiğini görünce şöyle dedi: “İşte Allah Kuzusu! Dünyanın günahını ortadan kaldıran O’dur.30 Kendisi hakkında, ‘Benden sonra gelecek olan biri var, O benden üstündür. Çünkü O benden önce vardı’ dediğim kişi işte budur.31 O’nu tanımıyordum, fakat İsrail halkı O’nun Mesih olduğunu görüp anlasın diye insanları suyla vaftiz etmeye geldim.”32 Yahya daha sonra şunları söyledi: “Mukaddes Ruh’un gökten bir güvercin gibi indiğini ve O’nun üzerine konduğunu gördüm.33 O’nu ben de tanımıyordum. Mesih, meshedilmiş anlamına gelir.42 Ardından Simun’u İsa’ya götürdü. İsa, Simun’a baktı ve şöyle dedi: “Sen Yuhanna’nın oğlu Simun’sun. Bundan sonra sana Kefas denilecek.” Kefas veya Petrus, kaya demektir.43 Ertesi gün İsa Celile bölgesine gitmeye karar verdi. Oraya varınca Filipus’u buldu ve ona, “Ardımdan gel” dedi.44 Filipus, tıpkı Andreas ve Petrus gibi Beytsayda şehrindendi.45 Filipus Natanel’i buldu ve ona, “Musa’nın Tevrat’ta hakkında yazdığı ve peygamberlerin söz ettiği kişiyi bulduk. Filipus Natanel’e, “Gel, kendin gör” diye cevap verdi.47 İsa, Natanel’in kendisine doğru geldiğini görünce onu işaret edip, “İşte saf ve itimada lâyık bir İsrailoğlu!” dedi.48 Natanel İsa’ya, “Beni nereden tanıyorsun?” diye sordu. İsa ona, “Filipus daha çağırmadan önce seni incir ağacının altında gördüm” dedi.49 O zaman Natanel, “Rabbi, sen Allah’ın semavî Oğlu’sun! İsrail’in Kralı’sın!” dedi.50 Bunun üzerine İsa Natanel’e, “‘Seni incir ağacının altında gördüm’ dediğim için mi inanıyorsun? Bundan çok daha büyük şeyler göreceksin!” dedi.51 Ardından onlara şöyle dedi: “Emin olun, göğün açıldığını, Allah’ın meleklerinin İnsanoğlu üzerine inip yükseldiklerini göreceksiniz.”

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way,3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,’”4 John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.5 And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.6 Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey.7 And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.10 And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.11 And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”12 The Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness.13 And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God,15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”16 Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”18 And immediately they left their nets and followed him.19 And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets.20 And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him.21 And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching.22 And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.23 And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,24 “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.”25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!”26 And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.27 And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.”28 And at once his fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee.29 And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.30 Now Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her.31 And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.32 That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons.33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door.34 And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.35 And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.36 And Simon and those who were with him searched for him,37 and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.”38 And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.”39 And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.40 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.”41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.”42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.43 And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once,44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”45 But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter.
