Description
Paul bends over the sick father of Publius, placing his hands upon the elderly man’s head in prayerful healing. The bedridden man rests inside a Roman-style coastal residence, while Publius and another witness stand nearby in wonder. Beyond the columns, the shore of Malta and a seagoing vessel connect the moment to Paul’s shipwreck journey toward Rome. The scene portrays Acts 28, where the apostle, received with hospitality after surviving the storm and the viper, ministers in the home of Malta’s chief official. Paul’s prayer and laying on of hands reveal the gospel’s mercy extending beyond Israel to the Gentiles, turning a place of disaster into a witness of Christ’s healing power. This artwork serves well for teaching on apostolic ministry, missions, hospitality, divine healing, and God’s providence in suffering.
