Description
King Darius sits upon his throne as officials gather before him with a written scroll, urging the royal order that will lead to Daniel being cast into the lions’ den. The palace setting, regal staff, and solemn council capture the moment when political jealousy becomes law in the kingdom of the Medes and Persians. In the biblical account, Daniel’s faithful prayer life provokes his enemies to manipulate the king into signing an irreversible decree forbidding petition to any god or man except the king. The scene reflects the danger of prideful authority and the courage of steadfast worship. Daniel 6 presents a contrast between human law and covenant faithfulness, showing that God remains sovereign even when righteous obedience is punished by earthly power.
