King Hezekiah rests on his bed as the prophet Isaiah stands before him beneath a stone archway, staff in hand, with sunlit palace steps rising behind him. The scene portrays the sign God gave to Hezekiah after promising healing and added years: the shadow would move backward on the stairway of Ahaz.
